But they have yet to come forward.

The ticket was bought at Thorton's convenience store, according to the Hoosier Lottery.

The Powerball ticket matched four out of five numbers and the Powerball, with a Power Play of 2X.

“The ticket holder should ensure their ticket is in a secure place, consider meeting with a financial advisor, and contact Hoosier Lottery customer service at 1-800-955-6886 for specific claim instructions,” lottery officials said.

However, all three Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment locations will be closed on Monday, October 9.

It's important to note that there are inherent risks that come with playing the lottery, as it is a form of gambling.

Players should only buy tickets if they can afford to do so.

A CAUTIONARY TALE

Another Indiana lottery player just forfeited their prize of $1,000 a week for life after their ticket expired.

The winning Cash4Life ticket was purchased in April and was invalidated on October 2.

To add insult to injury, this was the first time a winning ticket matched all five numbers to get the grand prize.

Back in July, a winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 expired as well.

The lottery urges every player to carefully check their numbers before disposing of tickets.

TIME IS TICKING

It may be hard to believe but billions of dollars in lottery winnings go unclaimed every year.

In New Buffalo, Michigan, a $1million Powerball prize from October 2022 remains unclaimed.

The ticket was purchased at a Shell gas station, and the winning numbers were 19, 31, 40, 46, 57 with a Powerball of 23.

The winner has until October 30 to claim their winnings.
