Why did the man sue his daughter's mum?

The anonymous winner alleges that Sara Smith violated a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) by prematurely revealing his massive lottery win to family members.

People reported that the winner, who opted for a one-time, lump-sum payment of $723,564,144 (KSh 109 billion) before taxes, had intended to keep the windfall a secret until June 2032.

This was in accordance with the NDA reportedly signed by Smith. The agreement aimed to maintain confidentiality until their daughter turned 18.

The Maine Lottery Association officially announced the win on February 22, approximately six weeks after the drawing.

Despite widespread curiosity, the winner's identity remained concealed, even from lottery officials who respected the winner's desire for anonymity.

However, according to the recently filed lawsuit, Smith allegedly disclosed the jackpot win during phone conversations with the winner's father, stepmother, and sister in September.

The legal action is now seeking compensatory damages, with the lottery winner requesting the names of those who received the unauthorised information.

The court documents, shared by The Daily Beast, revealed that the man from Maine is seeking damages:
