WHERE AN UNNAMED LOTTO WINNER SAYS A NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT WAS VIOLATED. "USUALLY YOU'RE NOT WORRIED ABOUT NONDISCLOSURES UNTIL YOU'RE STARTING TO GET UP THERE IN THE $100 MILLION RANGE." HIS CLIENTS GET INTO THAT RANGE AND BEYOND. KURT PANOUSES, A FLORIDA-BASED ATTORNEY, HAS REPRESENTED MULTIPLE BIG-MONEY CLIENTS. "WE'VE HAD CLIENTS THAT HAVE WON AND I'VE SENT AGREEMENTS TO THE FAMILY MEMBERS." THE LAWSUIT USES PSEUDONYMS FOR BOTH PARTIES BUT SAYS THE MOTHER IS FROM DRACUT, MASS. ACCORDING TO THE COMPLAINT - OTHER "THIRD PARTIES" LEARNED OF THE WINNINGS WHEN THE MOTHER BROKE THE NDA IN SEPTEMBER DURING PHONE CALLS WITH THE LOTTO WINNER'S FATHER AND STEPMOTHER. A lottery winner in Maine is suing the mother of his child for breaking a nondisclosure agreement and sharing news of his payout, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court. The plaintiff, identified only as “John Doe”, filed the lawsuit against the mother of his child, named in court documents under the pseudonym “Sara Smith” of Dracut, Massachusetts. The complaint states John Doe won the Maine State Lottery in January 2023. But lawsuit does not specify how much the plaintiff won but in February, the Maine winner of a $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot claimed the prize anonymously through the limited liability company LaKoma Island Investments, LLC and chose a one-time, lump sum, cash option payment of $723,564,144 before taxes.According to the lawsuit, the mother entered into a Non-Disclosure Agreement, “to promote the safety and security of John Doe, Defendant, and their daughter and to avoid the irreparable harm of allowing the media or the public in general to discover, inter alia, John Doe’s identity, physical location, and assets.”The lawsuit states that the NDA would remain in effect until June 1, 2032, when the daughter becomes an adult. According to the complaint, John Doe learned in September the defendant violated the NDA during one or more phone calls with his father and stepmother. “As a result of Defendant’s unauthorized disclosure of Protected Subject Matter to John Doe’s father and stepmother, other third parties are now in possession of John Doe’s Protected Subject Matter, including his sister,” it states. The complaint shows John Doe is seeking damages in an amount to be set at trial at a value of no less than $100,000 per unauthorized disclosure.
