Taking part in the recently concluded COP 28 in Dubai, JA Solar hosted an event entitled “Pathway to Net Zero and JA Solar Sustainable Development”, during which customers were invited to join in-depth discussions on the future of sustainability.

Among high profile participants were Mahabir Sharma, Chief Technology Officer at AMEA Power and LK Verma, Founder and Managing Director of Power ‘n’ Sun, together with senior representatives from clients including BUTEC and Jubaili and leaders from international organizations, research bodies and the financial sector.

AMEA Power is one of the largest developers in the MEA region, with gigawatts of renewable energy projects either in operation, under construction or in development. In 2022 JA Solar and AMEA entered into a partnership to supply 560MW of high-efficiency modules for the Kom Ombo Abydos PV project in Egypt, with construction commencing in January 2023. It will be the largest PV plant in Africa and will play a significant  role in promoting the diversification of the local power supply structure as well as the low-carbon, green and sustainable development of the local economy.

Sharma shared his views on global low-carbon and sustainable development, pointing out that technology transformation and efficiency are fundamental to sustainable growth and going on to explain that, in PV applications, once a project site is identified, it is vital to make full use of the land resources available and carry out reasonable capacity allocation.

As part of their ongoing collaboration, both parties have agreed on the importance of driving the application of solar energy and advancing low-carbon development in the regional market. Earlier this year, AMEA’s chairman Hussain Alnowais visited JA’s Beijing headquarters, meeting with Baofang Jin, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors, to discuss global trends in renewable energy development and future opportunities for cooperation.
