(FOX40.COM) — Over the last week CAL FIRE units across the Sacramento region have conducted training in areas like high-angle rope rescue, water rescue and structural firefighting.

Firefighters with the Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit and Placer County Fire completed a four session training on:
• Structural and commercial firefighting drills
• Fireground command
• Hazardous materials response
• EMS recertifications
• Rope rescue training

Training was carried out at the Roseville Training Tower, Grass Valley Training Tower and the Auburn Training Center.

“Many thanks to Sierra College, Roseville FD, and all of our cadre members who made this important training possible.”, said Fire Chief Brian Estes.

Further north in Butte County, CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Technical Rescue Team went to Magalia, north of Paradise, to conduct high-angle rope rescue training.

“Such exercises are vital for ensuring the ongoing proficiency of our first responders in safeguarding the citizens of Butte County,” the fire agency wrote in a news release.

Closer to the Sacramento Area, firefighters with the Amador-El Dorado Unit underwent an eight-hour course on first responder river and flood rescue.

The training was conducted along the Mokelumne River in Amador County where teams had hands-on training focused on “water rescue fundamentals, shore-based rescue techniques, and the command and control of river and flood emergencies.”
