The Mega Millions jackpot reached $1.13 billion ahead of Tuesday night's drawing. By early Wednesday morning, the Mega Millions website's homepage revealed that a ticket sold in New Jersey matched all five white balls and the gold Mega Ball to win the game's grand prize, which was the fifth-largest in the game's history.The winning numbers were: white balls 7, 11, 22, 29 and 38, plus the gold Mega Ball 4.There had been 30 drawings without a win ahead of Tuesday's drawing. The jackpot for the Tuesday drawing had a cash value of $537.5 million. The overall odds of winning the jackpot were 1 in 302,575,350. Those tickets were sold in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York and Ohio.As of Tuesday, five Mega Millions jackpots surpassing $1 billion have been awarded, all in different states: South Carolina in 2018, Michigan in 2021, Illinois in 2022, Maine in early 2023 and Florida last August. Tickets cost $2 each and are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are conducted at 11 p.m. EST on Tuesdays and Fridays. The jackpot for Friday's drawing is worth an estimated $20 million.
