MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Texas Mutual Insurance Company, a provider of workers’ compensation insurance, is awarding a $100,000 grant to Midland College in support of the Risk Management Institute at the College. The Institute provides workplace safety and health course for community employers, employees, and the general public.

This marks the 19th consecutive year that the Insurance Company has given $100,000 to the college in support of the Risk Management Institute.

“Midland College is once again proud to call Texas Mutual a partner in our community. For the past 19 years, their generous investments have made the Midland area a safer place to work and live, by providing valuable resources and training to our community,” said Chelsy Gann, Director of Workforce Education at Midland College.

Over 25 years, Texas Mutual said it has awarded $13 million in safety education grants, and more than 61,000 students have attended free or discounted safety and health training offered at various colleges. 

During 2023, Midland College Risk Management Institute served 1,083 students. The 2024 schedule includes new courses on OSHA 10 & 30, H2S Clear Training Adult & Pediatric CPR, AED & First Aid, Basic Pipeline, Basic Life Support, Forklift Operator Certification and SafeLand USA.
