Inaugural Lake Tahoe Documentary Film Festival coming this fall

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Set amidst the natural beauty of South Lake Tahoe, a captivating multi-day documentary film festival will be coming to life this fall. The art of storytelling will be evident throughout the venue, the Tahoe Blue Event Center October 4-6, 2024.

The adventure-packed documentary film fest, Lake Tahoe Documentary Film Festival, will be spotlighting stories that light up the soul. Imagine three days of watching films, participating in discussions, and gathering with a community of filmmakers. Organizers will provide a welcoming space for filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences to connect through screenings, discussions, workshops, and vibrant parties.

Local Michelle Aguilar-Ficara, a South Tahoe High grad and award-winning documentary filmmaker, founded the event and has brought on a team of dedicated professionals who are not only the advisory committee but also trusted advisers and goodwill ambassadors. They include Brad Forder, Sam Plakun, Jessica Wackenhut Lomeli, Sara Lafleur-Vetter, Breena Siegel, Suzan Beraza, Sandy Biagi, Chris Ficara, Peggy Blowney, Carissa Bisnar, and Brenda Avila-Hanna.

There will be opportunities for the community to support the film festival through partnerships, volunteer opportunities, financial support, and screeners. Film submissions are also being accepted.

"Our mission is to entertain, enlighten, and inspire by showcasing remarkable films, building community, and igniting a passion for storytelling that transcends boundaries, empowers, and fosters compassion and awareness," said Michelle.
