Hike: 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 29, Locust Lake State Park. Explore the mountain behind the park and visit Silver Creek Fire Tower. Hike is 5 miles long and moderate in difficulty. Participants meet at the visitor parking lot located before the contact station at 10:15 a.m. and travel to another area to start hike. Bring a lunch and your dog. Mentored Youth Trout Fishing: 8 a.m., Saturday, March 30. Youth anglers must obtain a Mentored Youth Permit or a Voluntary Youth Fishing License from the Commission and be accompanied by a licensed adult angler to participate. Anglers 16 years of age or older (adult anglers) must possess a valid Pennsylvania Fishing License and a current Trout/Salmon Permit, and be accompanied by a youth (less than 16 years of age) who has obtained a Mentored Youth Fishing Permit or a Voluntary Youth Fishing License from the Commission. Solar Eclipse Viewing: 1 p.m., Monday, April 8, Tuscarora State Park pavilion near the camp store. Environmental educator available to answer questions. Some materials will be available to build your own pinhole projector for viewing. Group will move to the field next to store at 1:30 p.m. to watch eclipse which begins at 2 p.m. Bring a blanket or chairs. Some solar glasses and viewers will be available. The first 70 people pre-registered will be guaranteed access to these items. The program is shine only. Pets are welcome if they are leashed and get along with other pets and people.
