LA CROSSE, WIS. (WXOW) - As part of Women's History Month, a member of the Evers Administration took part in a discussion on the challenges women face in the workforce.Â
It was in partnership with the Wisconsin Women in Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC).Â
The overarching theme of today's discussion was women in the workforce and the barriers women face when joining the workforce such as access to capital, childcare, and pay gaps.Â
Wisconsin's DOA Secretary Kathy Blumenfeld shared what she hopes attendees of the roundtable discussion will take with them into their own businesses.Â
"A real understanding of what the resources are out there. So many women entrepreneurs start their businesses and then they get to a point where they don't know where to turn," Blumenfeld said. "We want to know the needs of our local business women, what their hopes and dreams are, and how we can help facilitate that."Â
The discussion also included Department of Workforce Development Administrator Michele Carter, WWBIC Vice President of Programs and Operations Dr. Kamaljit Jackson, and Wisconsin Women's Council Executive Director Jennifer Cole.Â
Local business owner Lisa Lincoln said that one of her biggest takeaways was learning the abundant number of classes WWBIC has to offer. For example, how to grow your business and strengthen your finances.Â
