A free, all-day seminar on children's mental health in the digital age will be held May 1 at the Polk State College Center for Public Safety in Winter Haven.

Polk Vision, in partnership with the Polk County Commission and the county’s Health and Human Services Division, is presenting "Conversations in Behavioral Health: Navigating the Digital Age," a free, all-day event May 1 at the Polk State College Center for Public Safety in Winter Haven.

The event seeks to better inform anyone raising or working with children about the challenges and dangers of being surrounded by technology, Polk Vision said in a news release.

The lineup includes Keynote Speaker Dr. Lisa Strohman, a technology wellness and behavioral health expert and co-author of “Digital Distress: Growing Up Online.” Strohman will address the challenges of raising responsible digital citizens and provide insights on creating a healthy technology balance for children.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd will share “Digital Danger: Parental Awareness Required,” and Polk County Public Schools Superintendent Frederick Heid will present “Social Media’s Impact on Adverse Childhood Experiences,” covering how the modern digital world is shaping children’s relationships and affecting their mental health.

Dana Chandler, co-author of “Digital Distress: Growing Up Online Companion Workbook,” and Amanda Wilson, author of “You Can SOAR: From Trauma & Grief to Triumph & Glory,” are also scheduled to speak.

Online registration is required, and early registration is encouraged as space is limited. Register at https://polkvision.com/conversations-in-behavioral-health-navigating-the-digital-age/
