A lucky Massachusetts State Lottery player became a $1 million Powerball winner Saturday after purchasing a ticket at a convenience store near the New Hampshire border.
The ticket was purchased for $2 at Route 110 Convenience Store on East Street in Methuen. Another Massachusetts lottery player won a $50,000 prize through Powerball on Saturday when they purchased a winning ticket at East Boston Corner Market on Bennington Street.
In Powerball, players select five numbers between 1 and 69 and one Powerball number between 1 and 26. They then choose how many drawings they want to use those numbers for. Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
Players that match all five numbers and the Powerball number win the jackpot, which currently stands at $20 million. They have 1 in 292,201,338 odds of winning this prize.
Players that match all five numbers but not the Powerball number win $1 million. They have 1 in 11,688,053.53 odds of winning this way.
Players that match four numbers and the Powerball number win $50,000. They have 1 in 913,129.18 odds of winning this way.

Overall, there were more than 327 prizes worth $600 or more won or claimed in Massachusetts on Saturday, including five in Springfield and 14 in Worcester.

So far, the three largest lottery prizes won in Massachusetts in 2024 were all $4 million prizes. One was claimed on Tuesday, Jan. 16, another was claimed on Tuesday, Feb. 27 and the third was claimed on Tuesday, March 19.
