UK-based renewable energy company Low Carbon today announced expansion plans for the German market, starting with a solar pipeline of over 400 MW.

The first project is a 63-MWp solar park called Weissholz, or Whitewood, located in the state of Brandenburg in Wusterhausen. It is expected to break ground in 2025. The project recently secured municipality approval and is now awaiting the finalisation of environmental mapping and zoning changes, the company explained.

Besides the initial solar development portfolio, Low Carbon is also exploring opportunities in wind and storage projects as it seeks to grow in Germany. Its German activities are based in Berlin and led by Murad Can.

“Germany represents the largest renewables market in Europe and is underpinned by ambitious national targets for solar and wind deployment by the 2030s," remarked Can, Low Carbon’s German Head of Development.
