A 45-year-old man from Rehoboth Beach has claimed a $1,000,000 prize from the Powerball drawing on April 6. The man, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at Wawa #871 on Veterans Way in Rehoboth Beach.

Utilizing the Quick Pick option to select his numbers, the winner successfully matched five numbers, leading to his remarkable win. Expressing disbelief upon discovering his victory, he chose to share the exciting news with his mother first.

“I couldn’t believe I won. I thought a friend was playing a joke on me!” said the winner. “I plan to put some of the winnings toward paying off my house, buying my mom a car and taking a small family vacation.”

“We extend our sincere congratulations to the winner on his monumental $1 million prize,” said Helene Keeley, director of the Delaware Lottery. “We are thrilled to celebrate this monumental win and the positive impact it will have on the winner’s life.”

The winning numbers from the April 6 drawing were 22, 27, 44, 52 and 69. The Powerball number was 9, and the Power Play number was 3X.

Powerball drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights at 10:59 p.m. Tickets can be purchased until 9:45 p.m. on the day of the drawing.

The man claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on April 8.
