BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Boeing’s first Starliner spacecraft for astronauts rolled out on a trailer to the United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket around 5 a.m. EDT on Monday morning in preparation for its International Space Station mission, set for no earlier than May 6.

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will launch aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida to the International Space Station.

The mission will be the company’s first Starliner spacecraft mission with crew.

Boeing rolled out of the commercial crew and cargo processing facility at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and made the 6-mile trip with several astronauts on hand to witness the historic journey.

NASA’s Commercial Crew Program is working with the American aerospace industry through a public-private partnership to launch astronauts on American rockets and spacecraft from American soil. The goal of the program is to provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation on space station missions, which will allow for additional research time.
