‘She saved my son’: Taco Bell manager saves baby who stopped breathing

Heart-stopping footage captured the moment a Pennsylvania Taco Bell manager sprung into action and saved the life of an 11-week-old baby who had suddenly stopped breathing in the restaurant’s parking lot.

Mom of two Natasha Long says she’s lucky Taco Bell Manager Becky Arbaugh was within earshot when she stopped at the fast food chain’s location Saturday and screamed after noticing her baby Myles was no longer breathing.

“I pulled him out and he turned completely blue and was lifeless,” she told WPVI. “At that point I just completely blacked out. I didn’t know what to do.”

Surveillance footage shows Long started to scream in panic — alerting Arbaugh, who dropped her headset and rushed outside.

“I threw my headset. I ran outside,” Arbaugh told the station. “I took the baby and I started to do chest compressions on the baby and then he finally started to breathe.”

Footage shows Arbaugh taking baby Myles from his mother as another person stands to the side calling 911.

Arbaugh can then be seen administering chest compressions to the baby as his panicked mother stands beside them.

Arbaugh, also a mother of two, said she had been through a similar situation with her daughter. Because of her own experiences, she said, she was able to help Long remain calm during the crisis.

“When my kids were little, my daughter had a similar incident, so I knew what she was feeling,” she said. “I knew if I kept her calm and I stayed calm, there was no thought in my mind that the baby wasn’t going to breathe again.”

While Myles began to breathe again he was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

It was not immediately clear what caused his difficulty breathing, though he remains in the care of the hospital as they try to understand the cause.

The day after the incident, Long called the Taco Bell location to thank Arbaugh.

“We couldn’t be more grateful to Becky,” Long said. “She saved my son’s life.”

Despite the deserved praise, Arbaugh says she would have done what any other mom would do in the situation.

“I just thought of myself as a mom with another mom that needed help,” Arbaugh said.

Long and Arbaugh said they have been in contact since Saturday, with Arbaugh even offering to sit in the hospital with Myles so his parents can rest.
