RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The Rapid City Arts Council presents the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour, the largest and most revered mountain festival globally.

The Tour, in its 20th season in Rapid City, will be on full display on May 6 & 7, but with a slight change of plans. In an expanded way, Miranda adds that the festival has been stoking audiences worldwide for decades and promises the same for the first weekend in May. Miranda says the festival will begin on Friday, May 3, and for 5 days, will be filled with art, music, and outdoor adventures.

RCAC in collaboration with various community partners, invites residents and visitors alike to immerse themselves in a diverse range of experiences celebrating creativity, nature, and community spirit.

Friday, May 3 will be the “Rooted in Wonder” concert with Eliza Blue kickstarting the weekend at the Dahl Arts Center. The performance will be an enchanting evening of soulful melodies and poignant lyrics inspired by the beauty of South Dakota’s Northern Plains. Doors open at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd. Eliza Blue’s artistic journey is rooted in the beautiful Northern Plains of South Dakota. She draws inspiration from connection to the earth and sky through her soulful melodies and poignant lyrics, she weaves tales that resonate with the wonder of life itself. With a unique blend of folk and storytelling, Eliza’s performances transcend the ordinary, inviting audiences to explore the interconnectedness of nature and humanity.

Saturday, May 4 - the excitement continues with the Dahl mountain culture expo at Main Street Square. From thrilling outdoor gear demos to live music performances, this expo promises an electrifying tribute to mountain living, leaving all who attend feeling invigorated and inspired. Miranda says don’t miss out on engaging exhibits from beloved local favorites such as the Black Hills Adventure tours, Black Hills Vinyl/Black Hills Disc Golf Club, Sylvan Rocks Climbing School/SD Outdoor Shop, Planted Beauty Co., Citizen Climate lobby, Breadroot Coop, and the Black Hills Climbers Association. The expo kicks off at 10 a.m. as Black Hills Yoga Studio invites attendees to join a free yoga class in the square.

On Monday, May 6th, film enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Yarrow Film program at the Elks Theatre, featuring an exhilarating lineup of adventure films including “Fuego,” “The Best Skier You’ve Never Heard of,” and “Subterranean.” Get ready to be transported on a cinematic journey of adrenaline and awe.

On Tuesday, May 7th, the excitement continues on with the Paintbrush Film program, showcasing captivating films such as “Desert Wings,” “The Blackcountry Journal,” and “Leo & Chester” and experience the thrill of snow sports, mountain culture, and creative excellence on the big screen.

Throughout the weekend, adventure enthusiasts are invited to participate in various outdoor activities, including climbing with Black Hills Basecamp, Bikes, and Brews with Lost Cabin, Black Hills Runners Club meetup, and Slacklining in Sioux Park.
