YEAH. GOOD AFTERNOON TO YOU, SUSAN. TAKE A LOOK. THIS IS A VERY ACTIVE SCENE AT THIS HOUR. WE’RE IN THE 300 BLOCK OF SOUTH MAIN STREET IN PENN TOWNSHIP, JUST OUTSIDE MANHEIM BOROUGH. THIS BUILDING SITS QUITE A BIT OFF THE ROAD, BUT IT IS A VERY BUSY, ACTIVE SCENE. WE’RE TOLD THAT THE FIRE STARTED AROUND 1020 HERE. THIS IS BUYERS PALLETS COMPANY, WE’RE TOLD, AND YOU CAN SEE PILES AND PILES OF BURNED PALLETS SITTING IN AND AROUND THIS BUILDING. A NEIGHBOR HERE TELLS ME THAT SHE WOKE UP TO THE SOUND OF SIRENS. SHE SAW SMOKE AND SHE RAN NEXT DOOR JUST IN TIME TO SEE THE OWNER BEING PULLED OUT. SHE TELLS ME SHE PULLED OFF HIS JACKET, WHICH WAS MELTED TO HIS ARMS. SHE BELIEVES THAT HE WAS SUFFERING SOME FROM SOME PRETTY SIGNIFICANT BURNS ON HIS ARMS. HIS FACE AND HIS NECK. SHE TELLS ME HE IS BEING TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW TO HAVE THOSE INJURIES ADDRESSED. ANOTHER NEIGHBOR TELLS ME THAT SHE SPOKE TO THE WIFE OF THE OWNER, WHO SAYS SHE IS ONLY CONCERNED RIGHT NOW THAT EVERYONE HERE IS OKAY AND GETS OUT OKAY. SHE SAYS THE BUILDING CAN BE REPLACED. RIGHT NOW THERE ARE A NUMBER OF ROADWAYS IN THIS AREA CLEARED, CLOSED RATHER AS DOZENS OF FIRE COMPANIES ARE HERE. THERE ARE YARDS AND YARDS OF HOSE BEING PULLED BACK TO THIS FIRE SCENE. POLICE ASKING PEOPLE TO PLEASE AVOID THE AREA AT THIS TIME BECAUSE IT IS A VERY BUSY AREA. AGAIN. ROUTE 72, JUST SOUTH OF MANHEIM, CLOSED AT THE PRESENT TIME. IT DOES APPEAR AT THIS TIME THAT MOST OF THE FIRE HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN. NOT MUCH SMOKE COMING FROM THE BUILDING AT THIS HOUR, BUT AGAIN YOU CAN SEE FIRE CREWS STILL ON THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING, STILL A VERY ACTIVE SCENE. WE’LL O

Fire tore through a Lancaster County business Thursday morning.The fire started around 10:20 a.m. at Biers Pallet company on the 300 block of South Main Street in Penn Township, just outside of Manheim. The fire is still burning.A neighbor told WGAL reporter Anne Shannon that she woke up to the sound of sirens, saw smoke, ran next door and saw the business owner being pulled out of the building. The neighbor said she pulled off the owner’s jacket and it was melted to his arms. She thought he was suffering from pretty significant burns to his arms, face and neck. The owner was taken to the hospital.Another neighbor told WGAL she had spoken to the owner’s wife, who just wanted everyone to get out safely and expressed that the building could be replaced. Road closuresRoute 72 (South Main Street) is closed between Fruitville Pike and East Sun Hill Road until the fire is contained. Police are on the scene directing traffic.This is an active fire.
