This winner, from Baltimore, Maryland, purchased a Mega Millions and Powerball ticket after a conversation with her sister.

She said they often spoke about giving a lotto game a go so the soon-to-be winner visited a local store.

The woman purchased two Mega Millions quick-pick tickets and a $4 Powerball quick-pick ticket from a Royal Farms store in Baltimore, according to the Maryland Lottery.

“To be honest, I was unsure how to play,” she said.

“I walked up to the vending machine and was confused a little.”

She explained that she had forgotten about her tickets for a week until she found them again at the bottom of her bag.

“I spilled some water in my bag and, as I was cleaning it out, I found the ticket,” she said.

“I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, I have this ticket to check.’”

She put the numbers into the Maryland Lottery app but had to call her sister for help after a message came on the app.

The message “See Retailer” popped up on the lucky winner's screen.

“My sister looked up the winning numbers on the Lottery’s website,” she said.

The lottery player also added that her winnings could have ballooned even further if she had changed one of her playing numbers.

“She told me I only missed the jackpot by one number and that I won $50,000.

“I fell out my chair at work.”
