A WASTE company claims it has jars full of coins that could potentially be worth thousands of dollars each.
The waste-management facility in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, around 30 miles north of Philadelphia, explained how it had accumulated so many coins.
Reworld said it had come across between $500,000 to $1 million worth of coins each year.
They explained that they started to collect the cash in 2017 when they noticed so many coins had been thrown away by people, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Most of these coins are deposited by the company in a bank but the workers shared that they set some of the coins aside.
These special coins are the buffalo nickels, which are no longer made as they were produced between 1913 and 1938.

Some of these coins could potentially resell for thousands of dollars.
Despite this, the operations supervisor at the location, Aneglo Geraci, explained why those coins were special to him.
“As a child I used to get excited about buffalo nickels, I thought they were rare,” Geraci said.
“Here we have jars and jars of buffalo nickels.”

These coins are not the only currency to end up at the facility as they have even seen foreign coins pass through their plant.
They have included euro cents and Kuwaiti coins.
This process involves incinerated waste that is sent to the Pennsylvania facility.
A machine would split the trash up and set the metals aside.
Workers then sort through the metal pile by hand to pick out any money or valuables.
Reworld said they have collected over $10 million worth of cash through this process since they started.
