HELP FIND THAT TODDLER. A REGULAR EVENING AT THE GRIGGS HOME QUICKLY FILLED WITH COMMOTION. WE WERE HAVING DINNER AND SOME MIGHTY COME AND KNOCKED ON OUR DOOR AND SAID, HEY, WE’RE LOOKING FOR KID. SO WE TOOK OFF AND STARTED LOOKING. GEORGE IS RECALLING THE EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE ON MONDAY EVENING, WHEN A TWO YEAR OLD WENT MISSING ON SWANSON ROAD. NEIGHBORS IN THE SMALL COMMUNITY OF DENEEKA ALL WENT OUTSIDE SEARCHING FOR THE CHILD. THE FIRST THING WE KNOW THEM WAS HOLLERING, OH, WE FOUND THEM UP HERE! AND THAT’S WHEN THEY PULLED THEM OUT OF THE CANAL. A SPOKESPERSON WITH THE STANISLAUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THAT THE BOY WAS PULLED OUT OF THE WATER ABOUT HALF A MILE DOWN THE CANAL. THE INITIAL FINDINGS DID LOCATE WATER IN THE BOY’S LUNGS, SO RIGHT NOW IT APPEARS TO BE AN APPARENT DROWNING. BUT WE CAN’T SAY FOR SURE UNTIL THE INVESTIGATION IS FULLY COMPLETED. A RECOVERY THAT A FEW RESIDENTS WITNESSED. I DON’T KNOW HOW THEY COPE WITH IT. I MEAN, IT’S BAD ENOUGH FOR US TO SEE IT. YOU KNOW, NEIGHBORS TELL ME THAT THIS CANAL IS USED FOR IRRIGATION AND AS YOU CAN SEE, IT’S FULL AND THE WATER IS MOVING FAIRLY QUICKLY, WHICH IS WHY RESIDENTS SAY THAT THEY TEND TO KEEP THEIR CHILDREN AWAY. THE CANAL IS ALSO A FEW FEET AWAY FROM PEOPLE’S HOMES, AND THERE ARE NO BARRIERS AROUND IT. YOU KNOW, BEING AN AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITY, THAT WE ARE AN AGRICULTURAL COUNTY. MOST CANALS REALLY ARE UNFENCED OR THERE’S VERY LIMITED FENCING, SO THAT WILL PLAY A FACTOR IN THE DECISION OF LOOKING AT THINGS IN MODESTO MARICELA DE LA CRUZ, CASEY ALREA 3 NEWS THE STANISLAUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS WAITING NOW ON
