New Delhi: Nag Ashwin Reddy, Indian Film Director and Screen writer is known for his works in the Telugu film industry. As he turns a year older today, let’s take a look at the director’s journey in the Indian cinema, his early life and career in Tollywood. Nag Ashwin Reddy made his directorial debut in 2015 with the film ‘Yevade Subramanyam’. He was born in a Telugu family in Hyderabad. Both of his parents are doctors. His younger sister is also a doctor. He received a Mass Communication degree from the Manipal Institute of Communication. After this, he pursued a Film Direction course from New York Film Academy.

Nag Ashwin’s Early Career
Nag Ashwin began his career by working as an Assistant Director in the film ‘Nenu Meeku Telusa’. He assisted film director Sekhar Kammula in 2010 for the film ‘leader’. Nag Ashwin also acted in a few films in minor roles. His debut film ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ received mixed response from the audience. He made a biopic on the Indian actress ‘Savitri’ in 2016 which is titled as ‘Mahanati’.

He spent over 6 months doing research and reading books on her before making the film. Nag Ashwin also met all the actors who worked with her and Journalists who interviewed her. The film was completed by March 2018. The film was released in May and received many awards.

The Telugu Film Director got married in 2015 to Priyanka Dutt. She is the second daughter of Producer C Ashwini Dutt. The couple has a son Rishi.

His upcoming film is ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani. The film is scheduled to release on 9th May 2024.
