Biden says 'We can't be trusted' in latest gaffe while referring to Trump

US President Joe Biden made the latest gaffe in less than two weeks after he confused the Israeli port city of Haifa with that of Rafah, a city in southern Gaza, which is the last stronghold of Hamas during an interview on April 18.

US President Joe Biden suffered yet another embarrassing gaffe when he said "we can't be trusted", while criticising his predecessor and Republican rival Donald Trump for creating a “healthcare crisis for women all over this country” due to the repeal of abortion rights.

The 81-year-old Biden, the oldest President in the country's history, was addressing a campaign event on Tuesday at the Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. He said Trump was the "one person who was responsible for this nightmare” in reference to the June 2022 repealing of the Roe Vs Wade ruling, which gave women in the US the constitutional right to abortion.

“And he’s acknowledged it and he brags about it — Donald Trump,” Biden said.

"The court had recognised that women in America had a fundamental constitutional right, and then Trump took it away due to the deal he made. Now, in 2024, women in America have fewer rights than our mothers and their grandmothers because of Donald Trump.

"I dont think we'll let him get away with, do you?" he asked the crowd, to which he got a rousing "No" as the response.

“Folks, in a sense, I don’t know why we’re surprised by Trump,” Biden said during a stop in Florida.

“How many times does he have to prove we can’t be trusted? Trump bragged how proud he was to get rid of Roe Vs. Wade.”

On April 18, during a one-on-one interview with Nexstar Media’s Reshad Hudson, President Biden mixed up the Israeli port city of Haifa with that of southern Gaza's Rafah city.

"I’ve been meeting with them, number one. Number two, I made it clear that we have to vastly increase the amount of food, water, healthcare going into Gaza. And I made it clear to Israelis – don’t move on Haifa. It's just not..." Biden said when he was asked about how he planned to win back pro-Palestinian voters following Israel's offensive against Hamas in Gaza.

In another gaffe in March, Biden said "we have the lowest inflation rates of any country in America" while speaking about his administration's efforts to tackle inflation in the US.

Also last month, a video of the President mistakenly saying that the US would be airdropping food and supplies into 'Ukraine' instead of Gaza went viral.

In February, he momentarily confused Hamas with the term "opposition" when asked about ongoing hostage negotiations with Israel, but quickly corrected himself.
