City of Whitehouse to build new community center

The community center will provide spaces for banquets, meetings, conferences, training, and some office space for city departments.

WHITEHOUSE, Texas — The city of Whitehouse announced on Wednesday the plans to construct a new community center

The Whitehouse City Council drafted a strategic plan in 2018 aimed to re-establish a central area of the community focused on a mixture of outdoor spaces and opportunities for city identity and collaboration.

According to a Facebook post, the Mayor & City Council have been purchasing property and enhancing partnerships with community organizations and individuals and soon, there will be a new community center located at 109 E. Main.

The community center will provide spaces for banquets, meetings, conferences, training, and some office space for city departments.

"Through strategic planning, the Mayor & City Council have funded the project while also lowering property tax rates. With an expected completion date of May, 2025, we are excited to begin seeing construction progress at the site," the release said.
