SAPD: Homeowner shoots two men attempting to steal roofing supplies from in front of his garage

The homeowner saw the camera alert and went out with his gun and shot one suspect in the buttocks the other in the leg.

SAN ANTONIO — A homeowner shot two men who were attempting to steal some roofing supplies from in front of his garage after a camera alerted him of their presence, police say.

San Antonio police responded to the 400 block of General Krueger Boulevard, not far from Basse Road and Blanco Road, just north of downtown around 5:13 a.m. Thursday for reports of a double shooting.

A camera located right above the homeowner's garage caught the would-be thieves trying to steal the roofing supplies on camera.

Police say that the 35-year-old homeowner told them he saw the camera alert that the men were outside of his home trying to steal something and called for help. The men took off, but apparently returned to try to finish the job.

When officers arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds, one to the buttocks and the other in the leg. Both suspects appear to be in their 30s and were taken to University Hospital in stable condition.

Police are investigating. This is a developing story.
