ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Illinois State Police arrested Kenyatta Branch, 28, for intent to deliver cannabis.

On April 24th, police conducted a traffic stop near Main and Elm Street for no front plate being displayed and the driver not wearing a seatbelt.

When officials asked passengers in the car to identify themselves, the backseat passenger provided a false name, according to court documents. Authorities figured out the passenger’s actual name and realized that he had a warrant for his arrest.

When taking him into custody, the suspect tried to break away and flee, but officials took him to the ground, police said.

When Branch was searched authorities said they found two bags of cannabis, a scale and cash. The suspect admitted to distributing cannabis for profit during an interview, according to court documents.

Branch is being charged with resisting a peace officer, obstructing identification and manufacturing and delivering cannabis.
