The LAPD is investigating the possible connection between a series of violent incidents, including the discovery of a dead infant and an injured child on the 405 in Culver City on Monday, April 8.

According to NBC Los Angeles, law enforcement sources told the station that, “the discovery of two children on the 405 Freeway in Culver City is linked to a murder investigation in Woodland Hills and a deadly crash in Redondo Beach.”

The report states that first responders arrived on the northbound lanes of the freeway near the Howard Hughes Parkway and Sepulveda Boulevard exit at 4:30 a.m. and discovered the children.

The 5-6 month old girl was declared dead at the scene while the 9-year-old girl had “moderate injuries” and was transported to hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Police are investigating the connection between that incident, and a crash that occurred about half an hour later on Pacific Coast Highway near Vincent Street in Redondo Beach.

“Emergency services responded and located the unresponsive female driver, who was pronounced deceased by paramedics from the Redondo Beach Fire Department,” Redondo Beach police said.

Another incident was called in at about 7:35 a.m. over 30 miles away. The LAPD got a call about a victim down at the Montecito Apartments, in Woodland Hills.

“I woke up in the middle of the night around 3:40 to screaming and commotion, it lasted about a minute  and I was really groggy and I just went back to sleep,” an anonymous neighbor told NBC. “This morning I was getting up to go to work and I left and I walk out front door and they are immediately to the left of us and I see their front door wide open and blood coming from their apartment all the way into the hallway to the elevator and I see blood on the walls.”

A statement from the LAPD on social media read, “Today, around 7:35 a.m., Topanga area officers responded to the 6200 block of Variel Avenue for a radio call related to a body found at the location. Valley Bureau Homicide detectives responded to the scene. While conducting their investigation homicide detectives learned of two additional incidents that occurred earlier in in the morning, one on the 405 Freeway involving two young children and a second in Redondo Beach involving a traffic collision.”

“At this time, Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are working with the California Highway Patrol on the incident involving the two children and believe it is connected to the Topanga homicide scene,” it continues. “They are also collaborating with the Redondo Beach Police Department and the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office to determine if that scene is related to the homicide on Variel. At this time, this is the only information being released. As additional information is confirmed and available, the LAPD Media Relations Division will release it.”

The various authorities are working together to investigate the possible connection between the three events.
