The Charleston County Sheriff's Office released video April 26 from the jail's sally port taken the night a theft suspect suffered a medical emergency and later died.

Andrew Kluczinsky, 50, was pronounced dead at Roper St. Francis Hospital, where he was transported just after midnight March 10.

The security video at the county jail in North Charleston showed the sally port, which is the secure entryway where officers pulled in with suspects. It has locking doors at both ends and an entrance into the jail.

On the night of March 9, Kluczinsky was charged with receiving stolen goods valued at up to $10,000. He was charged after an officer spotted what he believed to be a suspicious vehicle at a Food Lion grocery store on Savannah Highway. The vehicle was reported stolen by Charleston police, according to an incident report.

After the deputy pulled into the sally port, about 15 minutes passed before he and another deputy pull Kluczinsky from the backseat of the patrol vehicle. Jail personnel soon arrive and begin CPR. Members of the North Charleston Fire Department responded to the scene shortly afterward.

As is the department's policy, the State Law Enforcement Division was asked to investigate. SLED's investigation is ongoing.
