REVEAL ANY MORE DETAILS. DELAND LEADERS APPROVED NEARLY $90,000 TO BEGIN WORKING ON THE EXPANSION OF ONE OF THEIR FIRE STATIONS. YES, WESH TWO’S PAMELA COMBS REPORTS. THIS COMES AS MORE HOMES ARE GETTING BUILT AND CALLS FOR HELP ARE INCREASING. NEW CONSTRUCTION CAN BE FOUND ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST SIDE OF DELAND. THE CALLS FOR HELP OUT OF THIS FIRE STATION HAVE INCREASED BY 25%, AND AS HOMES CONTINUE TO GET BUILT, THAT NUMBER IS ONLY EXPECTED TO INCREASE AS THE NEED FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES INCREASES. THE ACTUAL FACILITIES THEMSELVES ARE ALSO DUE FOR SOME UPGRADES. WE’RE WORKING WITH AN ARCHITECT TO DESIGN THE EXPANSION OF STATION 83, DELAND FIRE CHIEF TODD ALLEN SAID. CITY COUNCIL RECENTLY APPROVED ABOUT $90,000 TO GET STARTED ON THE PROJECT, BUT THIS IS FOR THEIR FIRE STATION OFF EAST TAYLOR ROAD, SO PLANNING THAT OUT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE AN ADDITIONAL UNIT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR RESPONSE TIMES DON’T INCREASE, THAT WE’RE MEETING THE NEED OF THE COMMUNITY WE’RE MEETING THE NEED OF THE PEOPLE IN THIS AREA IS THE REASON FOR THE EXPANSION. THIS IS NEEDED TO HELP KEEP RESPONSE TIMES UNDER SIX MINUTES. ENGINEER EMT JORDAN ANDERSON AGREES. I’M DEFINITELY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. THEY’RE TALKING ABOUT PUTTING ANOTHER TRUCK OUT HERE, A CREW OF THREE. YOU KNOW, POTENTIALLY MAYBE MORE OUT HERE. AND I THINK IT’S GOING TO PROVIDE A BETTER SERVICE. THERE’S WITH ALL THE DEVELOPMENT GOING ON, CHIEF ALLEN HOPES TO HAVE THE ARCHITECTURAL RENDERING BY THE SUMMER. THEY’LL THEN DETERMINE THE COST, PUT IT OUT TO BID AND HOPEFULLY BY THE FIRST OF NEXT YEAR, THEY’LL BREAK GROUND. REPORTING
