The Supreme Court Registry sent out a total of 20,949 messages to lawyers via WhatsApp on Thursday, the day it announced integration of the messaging platform with its Information Technology services. Sources said 13,676 of these messages were delivered. The reason for the difference, they said, could be that there may be many unverified phone numbers in the data provided to the Registry by the Bar Association.
It could also be because the recipeints do not have WhatsApp service, they pointed out. The digital initiative, announced by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, aims to enable the Advocates-on-Record, Party-in-Person to receive automated messages regarding e-filing, cause list, orders and judgments.
All members of the Bar and the Registry officials will be able to receive the cause list as and when published by the Registry. In addition to accessing orders, judgments, through the website, now stakeholders will receive the same on their mobile devices.
Shifting Focus
Bihar BJP leaders are confused over what core theme they should carry to the voters. In January, they thought the Ram Temple was their main poll plank. Then came the Bharat Ratna for Karpoori Thakur, alongside Chaudhary Charan Singh and LK Advani.
It was followed by the Uniform Civil Code template and then the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
After the ED raids and arrests of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC K Kavitha, the BJP leaders and workers in Bihar are struggling to zero down on that one story of this election, the big picture.
