Buckner Elementary student honored for helping save his grandmother's life
BEGIN HOLDING BUDGET HEARINGS ON MAY 14TH AND OLDHAM COUNTY BOY IS BEING RECOGNIZED FOR HIS BRAVE ACTIONS THAT SAVED HIS GRANDMOTHER’S LIFE. THIS MORNING, BUCKNER ELEMENTARY HELD AN ASSEMBLY TO HONOR TRISTAN RANDALL. TRISTAN WAS SHOPPING WITH HIS GRANDMOTHER LAST MONTH WHEN SHE WENT INTO CARDIAC ARREST. A DOCTOR WAS IN THE STORE AND PERFORMED CPR. TRISTAN CALLED HIS MOTHER, WHO GAVE HIM VITAL INFORMATION TO SHARE WITH PARAMEDICS. THE FACT THAT THERE WAS A DOCTOR IN THAT STORE AND A, UM, THAT COULD START CPR CORRECTLY AND THAT TRISTAN COULD CALL ME AND LET ME KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON SO I COULD GIVE HIM INFORMATION. REALLY DID HELP THE EMTS GET WHAT THEY NEEDED. I FEEL VERY BLESSED THAT HE, MY DAUGHTER, KNEW WHAT TO TELL HIM AND HE COULD RELAY THAT INFORMATION BECAUSE AS THEY TOLD ME, WITHOUT THAT INFORMATION, I PROBABLY WOULDN’T HAVE MADE IT VERY HAPPY. ENDING. WELL, AS PART OF TODAY’S CEREMONY, ANCHORAGE MIDDLETOWN FIRE AND EMS GAVE

An Oldham County boy was recognized for his actions that saved his grandmother's life.Buckner Elementary held an assembly Friday morning to honor Tristin Randell.He was out shopping with his grandmother last month when she went into cardiac arrest.A doctor was in the store and performed CPR on his grandmother.Tristin called his mother, who gave him vital information to share with paramedics."The fact there was a doctor in that store that could start CPR correctly and that Tristan could call me and let me know what was going on so I could give him information really did help the EMTs get what they needed," said Luci Randell, Tristin's mother."I feel very blessed that my daughter knew what to tell him, and he could relay that information because they told me without that information, I probably wouldn't have made it," said Randell's grandmother, Edie Utler Willhite.As part of Friday's ceremony, Anchorage Middletown Fire and EMS gave Buckner Elementary a hands-only CPR kit.
