The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday’s lottery drawing has climbed to $228 million with a cash option of $103.4 million.
Friday’s winning numbers were: 15, 23, 53, 57, and 61. The Mega Ball drawn was 9 with a Megaplier of 3x.
While no one across the country hit Tuesday’s $228 million jackpot, five second-prize tickets were sold – each of which matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball.
A ticket bought in North Carolina is worth $4 million because the winner spent an extra $1 for the Megaplier option. There was also another $1 million ticket purchased in North Carolina as well as two sold in Florida.
A California second-prize ticket is valued at $886,657. California lottery prizes vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the fixed second prizes offered in other participating states.
In New Jersey, two third-prize tickets were sold, lottery officials said.
A ticket worth $40,000 was sold at Stop N Save on Bergenline Avenue in Guttenberg, Hudson County while a $10,000 ticket was bought at ShopRite on Mantua Pike in West Deptford, Gloucester County. The $40,000 ticket was bought with the Megaplier option for an extra $1. Both matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball
Tuesday’s winning numbers were: 11, 17, 33, 39 and 43. The Mega Ball drawn was 14 with a Megaplier of 4X.
The odds of a $2 ticket winning the Mega Millions jackpot by matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1.
Players have a 1 in 12,607,306 chance of a ticket matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball and winning at least $1 million. The odds of matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball for a prize valued of at least $10,000 are 931,001 to 1.
Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is worth an estimated $149 million with a cash option of $68.8 million.
