Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday drew a vivid analogy, comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a "cobra that harbours a grudge".
At a rally in Zahirabad constituency while campaigning for Congress candidate Suresh Shetkar, Revanth Reddy warned that Modi, "like a cobra", would not forget the defeat suffered at the hands of farmers.
"When the Narendra Modi-led BJP government brought three anti-farmer laws, thousands of farmers fought against Modi and made him not only to retract the three laws but also compelled him to apologise to them.
"But he is like a 'Kala Nagu' (black cobra). He will not forget but hold a grudge and will make farmers pay for their protests," Revanth said, while addressing 'Jana Jatara Sabha' public meeting.
Revanth Reddy's remarks refer to the BJP-led government's reversal of the controversial three farm laws in December 2021 amid widescale protests by farmers across the nation.
'Language & Spirit Of Rahul Gandhi': BJP Hits Back
The BJP, however, hit back, with party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla saying, "On one hand, PM Modi has mission and vision for the nation and on other hand, those who are only committed to corruption in their frustration are down to abusing PM Modi.
"This is not a statement of Revanth Reddy but this is the language and spirit of Rahul Gandhi. More than 100 times PM has been abused. Recently, various INDI leaders have made derogatory statements against PM Modi.. just because he comes from OBC background, the Congress party comes out and attacks him.
"In their meetings, Congress party has decided that whomsoever abuses PM Modi the most will be promoted in the party. Is this 'mohabbat ki dukan' or 'gaali ki dukan', Rahul Gandhi should tell us."
