Ahmedabad: The uncanny resemblance of a Pani Puri vendor in Gujarat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has captivated the internet as the country's seven-phase Lok Sabha elections began earlier this month. Anil Bhai Thakkar, the owner of Tulsi Pani Puri Centre in Gujarat's Anand is affectionately called "PM Modi" by locals due to his striking resemblance to the Prime Minister. His side profile, hairstyle, and white beard bear a remarkable similarity to PM Modi's appearance.
Originally from Junagadh, Thakkar has been running the Tulsi Pani Puri Center since he was 18, a business started by his grandfather. Despite his 71 years of age, he continues to be a popular figure, with customers often requesting selfies with him because of his resemblance to PM Modi. "I receive a lot of love and respect from both locals and tourists because of my resemblance to PM Modi," he mentioned.
Thakkar expressed deep admiration for the Prime Minister's values, emphasising cleanliness similar to PM Modi's focus. He maintains his stall impeccably clean, aligning with the Prime Minister's principles.
However, Thakkar is not the only doppelganger of PM Modi. Vikas Mahante from Mumbai's Malad also bears a striking resemblance to the Prime Minister. Earlier this year, a video of Mahante playing garbha was mistaken for a deeepfake video of PM Modi. Despite initial scepticism about the video's authenticity, Mahante clarified that he was the person in the video.
Mahante is known for drawing crowds due to his resemblance to PM Modi. He said that he is an admirer of the Prime Minister and his political approach.
