He also set a career-high in passes defended, with eight, a mark that also led the team. For his collegiate career, Anthony totaled 102 tackles (55 solo) and six picks with 14 defended passes.A Richmond, Va. native, Anthony posted a 71.6 Pro Football Focus grade in 2023.NFL.com's Lance Zierlein calls Anthony a "hard-hitting safety" who excels in man coverage but has "potential limitations" if asked to play on the back end."He's fairly comfortable handling man coverage duties over the slot and does a nice job of staying connected with routes and disrupting catch tries with timing," Zierlein writes. "He's fast enough to play over the top from center field, but the instincts are average, and he can be clunky swiveling hips with the changing gaze of the quarterback."While the first safety of the draft class, Anthony is the second defensive back taken, along with TCU's Josh Newton, who was drafted in the fifth round. The drafting of Johnson and Anthony back-to-back marks the first time the Bengals have drafted players from the same school in consecutive picks since the 2019 draft, when Germaine Pratt (third round, No. 72) and Ryan Finley (fourth round, No. 104) were picked back-to-back out of North Carolina State in 2019.
