With the 224th pick in the NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Ole Miss Rebels safety Daijahn Anthony. It comes after the Bengals took his teammate, defensive end Cedric Johnson, in Round 6.
The 6-foot, 195-pound Anthony began his career at Sheppard College 2019-20), transferred to Liberty 2021-22), then made his way to Ole Miss for his final year. This past season, he racked up 61 tackles, three interceptions, eight pass breakups, and 2.5 tackles for loss in 13 games (10 starts).
The consensus big board had Anthony ranked 279th overall.
The safety position is pretty much set for Cincinnati with Jordan Battle, Geno Stone, Dax Hill, and Vonn Bell occupying most of the snaps, while Tycen Anderson is also a viable member, though he’s coming off a second straight season-ending injury to start his pro career, the latest being an ACL tear.
Look for Anthony to push for that fifth safety spot.
