Titans select Tulane’s Jha’Quan Jackson in 6th round

DETROIT – Tulane wide receiver / return specialist Jha’Quan Jackson was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.

Jackson was picked with the 182nd pick by the Tennessee Titans. His selection by the Titans is the second consecutive season that the Tulane’s football team has had a player taken by the Titans as Tyjae Spears was chosen with the 81st choice in 2023. Jackson’s selection is the fourth of a Tulane player all-time by the Tennessee Titans. The team previously played in Houston as the Oilers and had chosen three other Tulane players under that moniker.

Jackson is the 23rd Tulane player that has been chosen in the NFL Draft since 2000 including three the last two seasons (Jha’Quan Jackson – 6th Round in 2024 – Tennessee Titans, Tyjae Spears – 3rd Round in 2023 – Tennessee Titans and Dorian Williams – 3rd Round in 2023 – Buffalo Bills). He is the first Tulane receiver that has been chosen in the NFL Draft since Darnell Mooney was chosen by the Chicago Bears in 2020 in the fifth round. Overall, Jackson is the 149th Tulane player that has ever been chosen in the NFL Draft.

Career: Played in 56 career games and totaled 109 catches for 1743 yards and 17 career touchdowns as a receiver…Also had 12 attempts for 116 yards and a touchdown as running back…Totaled 3308 career all-purpose yards in his career…Finished his career ranked fourth at Tulane in career punting return yards (677), fourth in punt return average (11.5), seventh in yards per catch (16.0), 10th in career touchdown catches (17) and 14th in career receiving yards (1743)

2023: Missed four games due to injury … Finished the season with 26 catches for 439 yards and four touchdown catches … Season-highs in receiving yards (106) and receiving touchdowns (two) came in the season-opening victory over South Alabama … Season-high six catches in the win at Memphis … Earned an All-AAC Third Team nod at punt returner with nine attempts for 110 yards … Finished seventh in the league in yards per reception (16.88) … Named to CSC’s Academic All-District Team … Selected to the 2023 Paul Horning Award Watch List.

2022: Selected to the 2022 Paul Horning Award Watch List…Earned a place on the 2022 Phil Steele Preseason All-American Athletic Conference Second Team as a punt returner…Played in all 14 games with nine starts at wide receiver…Caught 33 passes for 554 yards and three touchdowns…Also returned 21 punts for 213 yards and a touchdown…His 90-yard touchdown return against Memphis (10/22) was the second-longest in both school and conference history…Named Second Team All-AAC as a returner… His 87-yard touchdown reception against USC in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl tied the Cotton Bowl record and was tied for the third-longest in school history….His 886 all-purpose yards (554 receiving, 111 punt, eight rush and 213 kick) were the third-most on the team.

2021: Showed himself to be one of the most versatile weapons in the American Athletic Conference as he finished the regular season with 1,003 all-purpose yards…Named Phil Steele All-American Athletic Conference Fourth Team…Saw most of his action on special teams…Ran all over the field versus Morgan State (9/11) hauling in three catches for 21 yards and a touchdown, three kick returns for 59 yards and three punt returns for 36 yards…. Posted a season-high 203 yards off eight kick returns at Ole Miss (9/18)… Posted a season-high 93 receiving yards one the road at SMU (10/ 21)… Had three catches for 34 yards and three kick returns for 57 yards at home versus Cincinnati (10/30)… Posted a season-high 47 punt return yards at UCF (11/ 6)… Totaled 113 all-purpose yards versus Tulsa (11/13)… Had 114 all-purpose yards versus USF (11/ 19)… Closed out the season with one rush, one reception, and two kick returns for a total of 62 yards at Memphis (11/ 27).

2020: Established himself as one of the Green Wave’s most versatile offensive options, finishing the regular season with 788 all-purpose yards…Led the team in touchdown receptions (eight), tied for the lead in receptions (31) and was second on the squad in receiving yards (425)…Opened the year with three catches for 44 yards at South Alabama (9/12)…Hauled in his first touchdown reception of the year at Southern Miss, as he caught a 42-yard pass…Posted a breakout performance against UCF (10/24), as he had a 54-yard punt return, totaled a season-high 59 yards receiving and had 67 kickoff return yards en route to a season-high 180 all-purpose yards…He also caught a season-best two touchdowns against UCF…Caught three passes against Temple (10/31)…Collected a season-best seven receptions for against ECU (11/ 7)…Totaled five receptions for 37 yards and hauled in a touchdown at home against No. 25-ranked Army (11/14)…Closed out the regular season on a high note, as he caught three passes for 57 yards and scored a touchdown at home against Memphis (12/ 5)…Caught two passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns against Nevada in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (11/22).

2019: Appeared in eight games…Collected his first career touchdown as he hauled in a 14-yard touchdown catch at home against UConn (10/12)…Made a career best 17-yard reception at Temple (11/16).
