Tulane’s Michael Pratt picked in 7th round by Packers

DETROIT – Tulane quarterback Michael Pratt was selected in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.

Pratt was selected with the 245th pick by the Green Bay Packers. His selection by the Packers was the first time that they have chosen a Tulane player since Jerald Sowell was taken in the seventh round in 1997. Overall, Pratt is the 15th player that the Packers have ever chosen from Tulane. The 15 selections over the years are the most of any NFL team.

Pratt is the 24th Tulane player that has been chosen in the NFL Draft since 2000 and second this year following the selection of receiver Jha’Quan Jackson as the 182nd pick by the Tennessee Titans. This is the second straight year that Tulane has had multiple draft picks, fourth time since 2020 and seventh time since 2000. He is the first Tulane quarterback that has been chosen in the draft since JP Losman was a first-round pick in 2004 by the Buffalo Bills. Overall, Pratt is the 150th player that has ever been chosen in the NFL Draft from Tulane.

Pratt earned the AAC’s Offensive Player of the Year for the first time in his career in the fall. This season, Pratt went 185-for-283 for 2,406 yards and 22 passing touchdowns. He had a completion percentage of 65.4 and a passing efficiency of 158.9. Pratt was also the team’s second-leading rusher with 98 carries for 286 yards and five touchdowns. He was named the AAC’s Offensive Player of the Week twice (9/4 & 10/23) during the 2023 campaign. Additionally, this season he became the school’s all-time leader in career passing yards (9,602) and passing touchdowns (90). Besides being named the AAC Offensive Player of the Year, Pratt also was named First Team All-AAC for the first time in his career after being a Second Team All-AAC choice in 2022. He also was named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District for the second consecutive season.

Career: Ended his Tulane career ranking in the top-10 in the record books in passing yards (9602 – 1st), passing attempts (1203 – 3rd), passing attempts per game (26.1 – 7th), yards per attempt (7.98 – 3rd), completions (729 – 3rd), completions per game (15.84 – 6th), career completion percentage (60.6 – 1st), yards per completion (13.17 – 7th), 300-yard passing games (5 – 6th), touchdown passes (90 – 1st), touchdown passes per game (1.956 – 2nd), lowest interception percentage (2.16 – 1st), passing efficiency (148.0 – 1st), and touchdowns scored either as a rusher or receiver (28 – 10th)

2022: Played in and started 13 games, went 215 for 338 in passing, had a 63.6 completion percentage (third best in a single season), threw for 3,009 yards (fourth most in a single season), threw for 27 touchdowns (third most in a single season) and had a 161.8 passing efficiency rating….Also finished second all-time at the school in a single season with his 5.4 touchdown to interception ratio and with his 8.9 yards per attempt… Finished second on the team in 2022 with his 129 carries for 478 yards and 10 touchdowns…The 10 rushing touchdowns are the second-most ever recorded by a Tulane quarterback in a single season…Ran for 87 yards against Kansas State (9/17)…Had three rushing touchdowns against SMU (11/17)…Ran for 83 yards against USC in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl (1/2)…Threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns against Alcorn State (9/10)…Completed 27 passes for 326 yards against East Carolina (10/8)…Threw for 329 yards on 23 completions with two touchdown passes against USF (10/15)…Had a pair of touchdown passes against Tulsa (11/5)…Completed 23 passes for 236 yards and three touchdown passes against UCF (11/12)…Threw three touchdown passes against SMU (11/17)…Completed 20 passes for 394 yards and four touchdowns against UCF (12/3) in the AAC Championship Game…Completed eight passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns plus had the game-tying touchdown pass in the closing seconds against USC in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl…Named to the AAC’s All-Academic Team

2021: Had a career season starting in 11 games…Posted a career-best 2544 all-purpose yards and 26 touchdowns… Went seven straight games with a touchdown pass…Earned AAC Honorable Mention honors after throwing three touchdowns for a total of 296 yards and rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown at Oklahoma (9/4)…. Went 8 of 13 for 125 yards and two touchdowns in the air and rushed on in through two quarters versus Morgan State (9/11… Totaled 177 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns at Ole Miss (9/18)… Had another 296-yard game through the air and added three more touchdowns to his stat line versus UAB (9/25)… Had a career-long 59-yard pass for a touchdown at ECU (10/ 2)… Went 20 of 30 for 214 yards and two touchdowns at home versus Houston (10/ 7)… Threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns on the road through three quarters at SMU (10/21)… Bounced back from injury having a career night versus USF, going 19 of 24 for 311 yards and three touchdowns (11/19). Closed out the season with 278 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in Memphis (11/27).

2020: Burst on the collegiate football scene and quickly established himself as one of the top freshman quarterbacks in the nation…Saw action in 10 games and made nine starts…Finished the regular season with 1,806 yards passing and 20 touchdowns…His 20 touchdowns were the most among any true freshman quarterback in the nation…Also established himself as running threat, as he rushed for 229 yards and eight touchdowns…Threw at least one touchdown pass in every game he played in and threw for multiple touchdowns in eight games…Came off the bench at Southern Miss (9/26) and threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns…Passed for 192 yards, including a touchdown and rushed for a pair of scores against No. 17-ranked SMU (10/16)…Surpassed 200 yards passing for the first time in his career against UCF (10/24), as he totaled 215 yards through the air and had three touchdowns…Threw for a pair of touchdowns and totaled 205 yards passing against Temple (10/31)…Posted his third straight 200-yard passing effort, as he posted 216 yards through the air against ECU (11/7)…He tossed three touchdowns against ECU…Displayed pinpoint accuracy against No. 25-ranked Army (11/14), as he completed a season-best 70.4 percent of his passes and had two passing touchdowns…Tossed a pair of touchdowns against Tulsa (11/21)…Closed out the regular season on a high note, as he accounted for a season-best four touchdowns (two rushing and two passing) at home against Memphis (12/5).
