Williamsport graduate Trey Potts’ football playing career isn’t over quite yet. After seven rounds of the NFL Draft, the former Millionaire went undrafted and unsigned.

However, Potts received a mini-camp invite from the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Penn State football tweeted about Potts’ mini camp invite on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday night at 9:08 p.m.

“Happy Valley –> Kansas City” the tweet noted.

Potts wrapped up his career this past fall with Penn State after three productive seasons with Minnesota. With the Golden Gophers, his best season came in 2021 when he ran for 552 yards, averaging 4.9 per carry, and had six rushing touchdowns.

Last year Potts was the Nittany Lions third running back and had limited offensive work behind standouts Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton.

“In the Power Five, there’s always gonna be good running back rooms. That’s inevitable,” the former Millionaire told Lions247 prior to enrolling at Penn State.

In his career in Minnesota, Potts had nearly 1,200 yards and 11 TDs in his 24 games played.

Potts had a passing touchdown this past fall with Penn State against Illinois and had 27 carries in 2023. His last game as a Nittany Lion was in the Peach Bowl where he had two carries for 10 yards against Ole Miss. He had 155 rushing yards this past fall wtih the Nittany Lions and 57 receiving yards.

Potts is one of a handful of college players who received a mini-camp invite from the Chiefs which includes Ole Miss quarterback Spencer Sanders and Villanova wide receiver Jaaron Hayek.

In high school, Potts was an incredible player for coach Chuck Crews. He had 347 career carries for 3,490 yards and 59 touchdowns in 31 games with the Millionaires. He totaled 939 all-purpose yards as a senior and ran for an impressive 2,016 yards on 187 carries and 34 touchdowns as a sophomore, averaging 10.8 yards per carry. In his freshman season, he ran for 894 yards and 13 touchdowns while catching six passes for 45 and a score.

He was ranked the No. 13 all-purpose running back coming out of high school by 247Sports and was a consensus three-star recruit.
