Engineers are working to fix an electricity fault at a street in Cornwall. It could take another eight hours before power is restored to houses in the Barncoose Terrace area of Redruth, says the National Grid.
Witnesses have reported seeing police and fire crews at the scene and a cordon being put in place. It has been confirmed that 69 properties were hit by a "low voltage cable fault" at about about 11am on Sunday morning.
Although power has been restored to most customers, 28 remain off grid. The National Grid says a customer initially reported the issue. A fault was detected below a manhole which may have been making an audible sound.

Traffic lights were out
There are reports the four-way traffic lights at Barncoose roundabout were also out due to the power failure
Cable failed
National Grid say: "There were initially 69 customers off supply. The incident was investigated and found to be a low voltage cable failure in the ground.
"Staff are on site and 41 residents were reconnected at 12:25pm. It was not a planned incident. It was reported a link box failed which is used to connect cables together under a manhole."
