I do not know how Frank Gore Jr. went undrafted. He is the son of an all-time great and was a monster during his college career at Southern Mississippi.

And yet, the First Team All-Sun Belt running back did not hear his name called in Detroit this weekend.

Fortunately, it did not take long for Gore Jr. to find a home. The Buffalo Bills snatched him up as an Undrafted Free Agent shortly after the conclusion of Day 3.

Like father, like son!

There is still work to be done. It is not a done deal that Gore Jr. will make it through training camp and on to the active roster. He is going to have to prove his worth.

The biggest concerns with the 5-foot-8, 200-pound ball-carrier are his size, breakaway speed, small catch radius and pass blocking. As someone who watched a lot of Golden Eagles Mustard Buzzards football over the last four years, I do understand.

However, Gore Jr. has ridiculous lower-body strength, great vision, fantastic balance that allows him to make sharp cuts at the line of scrimmage and in the open field, and he always falls forward through contact. It is hard to weigh his weaknesses greater than his strengths.

Gore Jr. ran the ball 759 times for 4,022 yards (5.3 yards per carry) and 26 rushing touchdowns with 75 catches for 692 yards and four receiving touchdowns at Southern Miss. The numbers don’t lie! At one point, head coach Will Hall decided to play without a quarterback and used his star running back instead.

If Frank Gore Jr. can make the 53-man roster, it puts Josh Allen in a very unique position to make really cool history.

He handed the ball off to Gore Sr. 166 times during the 2019 season. He will become the first quarterback to ever hand the ball off to both father and son if Gore Jr. ever gets a carry for the Bills. That’s crazy!

Gore Sr. is 40 years old and retired in 2020. Gore Jr. is 22 years old and will be a rookie in 2024.

Should Allen get the chance to hand the latter the rock, it would be a pretty mind-blowing moment!
