Travellers have selected three Queensland and three NSW stays as Australia’s best with The Reef House Adults Retreat Palm Cove topping TripAdvisor’s annual Best of the Best Hotels list followed by Emporium Hotels South Bank in Brisbane at number two and Element on Coolum Beach in eighth spot.
NSW’s Quest Orange (5), Pinetrees Lodge (7) on Lord Howe Island and Terminus Apartment Hotel (9) highlighted a strong regional showing for the state on the top 10 Best of the Best Hotels list.
The Best of the Best distinction is awarded to properties that consistently achieve a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and ratings from the Tripadvisor community across 12 months and represent the top one per cent of eight million listings worldwide.
Rounding out TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Hotels for Australia are Hobart’s MACq 01 Hotel (3) and The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel (10) along with Next Hotel Melbourne (4) and Zagame’s House (6), also in Melbourne.
The Reef House Adults Retreat Palm Cove was also named TripAdvisor’s number-one luxury hotel in Australia.
The Reef House Director Malcolm Bean said the TripAdvisor awards marked a stellar 12 months after winning the best 5 Star Luxury Accommodation at the 2023 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards and Queensland Tourism Awards.
“These accolades reflect what we are hearing from our guests – they want remarkable customer service in a relaxed and beautiful boutique property where they can take time out for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation,” he said.
TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best hotels in the world
Globally, the 34-suite Hotel Colline de France in Brazil was crowned the world’s best hotel with two Bali properties also in the top 10: Adiwana Suweta (4) and Padma Resort Ubud (9).
Rounding out the top five hotels in the world are OBLU SELECT Lobigili (2) in the Maldives, Las Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa (3) in Vietnam and Cuba’s Iberostar Grand Packard in fifth spot.
TripAdvisor added three new award sub-categories this year: Pet-Friendly, Sustainable and Wellness.
Brazil’s Hotel Fioreze Quero Quero was named best for furry friends; Buahan a Banyan Tree Escape in Bali as the world’s most sustainable stay and Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa as the top spot to check-in for wellness.
