In a wave of pro-Palestine demonstrations across major US universities, tensions have soared as students raise their voices in solidarity with Palestinians.

Infact, At Harvard University in the US, people protesting against Israel raised the Palestinian flag above the John Harvard statue in Harvard Yard. Well it is a big deal as this spot is reserved for the American flag, as demonstrations against the Gaza War continue to grip universities across the country. Infact a video has gone video, it showed three students at the Ivy League school raising the Palestinian flag over the statue

Almost 900 people have been arrested all over the country since April 18, when many were arrested at Columbia University in New York City.

Last Saturday alone, more than 200 protesters were arrested at colleges including Northeastern University in Boston, Arizona State University in Tempe, Indiana University in Bloomington and Washington University in St. Louis

Now let’s first understand what does these protesters want?

So the protesters are demanding a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas. They are also asking for divestment of university assets in companies involved with the Israeli military, and an end to the US military’s assistance to Israel.

Students at Harvard University say they’ve seen a few cases of antisemitism, but they believe that people from outside their movement are trying to take control of it.

After these protests are viral in the entire worlds, finally the US govt responded.

According to White House national security spokesman President Joe Biden understands that many Americans have strong emotions about the war in Gaza. He respects people’s feelings, and he believes in the right to peaceful protest. Kirby also said that Biden condemns hate speech and antisemitism.

As universities try to figure out how to handle these protests, students are staying strong in their support for Palestinian freedom.
