Jacobs, who also played wideout during his days at McDonogh High School in Maryland, has the range and coverage ability to be a three-down linebacker. He can also help the Chiefs on special teams.
Jacobs also ran a 4.58 at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. His speed could also make him an effective blitzer in the NFL.
“I’m up there. … I feel like I’m up there with a lot of guys,” Jacobs said when asked about his speed prior to Penn State’s Peach Bowl loss to Ole Miss in Atlanta.
“That’s one thing I’ve really worked on since I’ve been here, my speed, being able to be one of the fastest guys, being one of the sideline-to-sideline linebackers. That’s super-valuable in today’s NFL.”
Jacobs appeared in all 13 of Penn State’s games in his final season, racking up 49 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, five quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries. Jacobs made 36 starts during his collegiate career.
