Neuroprotective CPR, approved for nearly 80 EMS agencies in Florida, including The Villages Public Safety Department, involves automated chest compressions using a Lucas Device, an ITD Rescue Pod for regulated breathing control, and an EleGARD device that elevates the head and neck for enhanced blood flow to and from heart to brain. Researchers claim its use has shown promising increases in getting a patient's pulse back.

You can watch the technique used during a cardiac arrest at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport (click here).  Warning: Video depicts CPR and AED shocks in progress.

CPR begins in less than 2 minutes, the EleGARD is slid in place at 9 minutes and the Lucas Device takes over chest compressions at 17 minutes. This patient survived.
