Police seized a large quantity of cannabis after the strange behaviour of a man on an electric bike led them to carry out a stop and search.

Officers from EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley were on patrol in plain clothes on April 18 when they spotted a man on an electric bike acting suspiciously at around 1.30pm on Finch Lane in Dovecot.

When the police officers tried to stop him, he ran off on foot, but was caught a short time later.

He was found to be in possession of a large amount of cannabis and around £1,400 in cash. A 20-year-old from West Derby was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of criminal property. He was taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning and later released pending further investigation.

A subsequent search of a house on Aspes Road in West Derby led to the further recovery of more than 3kg of cannabis.

As a result, a second man aged 43 from West Derby was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and was taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning. He has been released pending further investigation.
