Movies in the Park returns to Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WXIX) - A free monthly outdoor cinema series is returning to Middletown for its eighth year.

The City of Middletown will host “Movies in the Park,” a series of big-name family-friendly flicks throughout the summer.

“Movies in the Parks has been an incredible success for the city and we are excited to once again be partnering with local churches to provide lasting memories for our children and residents through this event,” Jeri Lewis, community projects coordinator said.

According to the City of Middletown’s city manager, there will be character meet-and-greets at the first three movies of the series.

Movies in the Park Schedule:

May 10: “Transformers” in Sunset Park, partnering with Axis Church
June 7: “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” in Douglass Park, partnering with New Era Baptist Church
July 12: “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” in Goldman Park, partnering with Breiel Church
August 9: “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in Maple Park, partnering with Restore Church
October 11: “Wonka” (movie will be shown in the field behind the Middletown Event and Senior Center), partnering with Kingswell

Local churches are providing free snacks at each event.

Events begin at 7 p.m. and will also include family activities.
