OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) – A protest at Ole Miss ended in a police escort away from campus.

A pro-Palestinian protest of around 25 gathered at the Quad to make their voices heard on Wednesday.

They were outnumbered by counter-protestors who also showed up.

The two sides were barricaded away from each other for safety.

A non-student organization protest is taking place on the campus of Ole Miss.

Protestors yelled “Free Palestine” while brandishing signs, and counter-protestors yelled “USA.”

Eventually, the pro-Palestine protestors were escorted out to a bus and taken off campus.

Food and water bottles were thrown as the pro-Palestinian protestors were being escorted away.

Gov. Tate Reeves posted to Facebook about the scheduled protest saying in part, “Peaceful protests are allowed and protected - no matter how outrageous those protesters views may seem to some of us. But unlawful behavior will not be tolerated. It will be dealt with accordingly.”
