FOREST CITY, IOWA (May 2, 2024) — Are you as excited as we are for our big day on Saturday, May 4, at the Boman Fine Arts Center 225 John K Hanson Dr, Forest City, Iowa? Are you coming to the Iowa Oscars? We hope so.
The Iowa Motion Picture Awards Film Festival is the longest continuously-running film festival in Iowa and only those with an Iowa connection are eligible to enter. Those without are disqualified and every year we have the sad job of doing this. We hope they come back with an Iowa connection, film in Iowa, or come to the awards to be part of our wonderful event.
Remember, due to very strong multistate support for our event, admission is free but pre-registration is required at impa.tv/events/. Be sure to sign up for tickets.
When you arrive, please come to our registration desk where our very friendly folks who appreciate and celebrate Iowa filmmakers have your All Access Festival Passes.
Movie screenings begin at 10 AM. Arrive before that to register before going to the auditorium to see the movies. The screening schedule and program which has the show schedule are available here:
Dress code for the day is generally casual during the movie screenings and then people dress up for the awards show. Be expressive and be yourself. We currently have a reel playing on our Facebook page showing past Awards and Gala ceremonies. You can see it here: facebook.com/reel/960847156043424
The Gala and Awards ceremony begins at 7PM. We hope you stay to celebrate with us. Our very wonderful Emcee, the amazing Matt Ford, will announce the category and the showreel will be played of your clips for that category. Then our Emcee will open the envelopes and reveal the answer we all want to know — who is being awarded a trophy?
- Food will be available for purchase from Backyard Bites Food Truck, 3-7PM.
- The Boman will be offering adult beverages for sale.
- Printed programs will be available for nominees as we enter the auditorium for our big night.
