As Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is celebrated, EA Sports’ popular Madden NFL 24 video game joins in the festivities.

This month, players can earn special player cards in the game’s Ultimate Team mode, including cards for Kahuku Red Raider alumni, former Jets defensive lineman Bradlee Anae and current Los Angeles Chargers defensive back Alohi Gilman.

In Ultimate Team, challenges allow players to boost Anae and Gilman to a 99 rating. T.J. Horgan, a former Hawaii news reporter who now hosts “Good Morning Madden” on EA’s Twitch channel, shared his excitement about the inclusion.

Horgan often interacts with viewers from Hawaii during his live streams. “Every morning, I open up the Twitch chat, and I see usernames like ‘First Name Last Name 808’. It’s clear we have Madden players in Hawaii,” he said.

Horgan believes that integrating this heritage month program into Madden is significant. “Any time you can give the players a chance to celebrate something impactful through the game we love, it means everything,” Horgan noted.

“So bringing this Asian American, Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Month program in and specifically seeing a couple of Native Hawaiians in Bradley Anae and Alohi Gilman, I was so pumped up to see them in there, that fires me up. That’s going to fire anyone up, particularly in the state of Hawaii, which has a football culture unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.”
